Websites for Trade Businesses — What Actually Brings Jobs

Tradespeople do not need an elaborate website, they need four things that are immediately clear. What matters more than any design and where most sites fail.

Websites for Trade Businesses — What Actually Brings Jobs

Trade businesses rarely need an elaborate website. They need one that answers four questions within seconds. That is exactly where most of them fail, regardless of how modern they look.

The four questions

What exactly do you do? Not "everything around the house", but the individual trades. Someone looking for heating is looking for heating, not for an all round offer.

Where do you work? The service area belongs visibly on the homepage, with the towns spelled out. That is exactly what people search for, and exactly what is missing most often.

Can we see your work? Ten of your own photos from real jobs carry more weight than any stock image. Before and after works particularly well.

How do we reach you right now? The phone number belongs at the top, as a tappable link. A trade customer calls, they rarely fill in a form.

The most common gap is not the design. It is the list of places you work in.

What else works

A sentence about your current workload is more honest than silence. "We are currently allocating appointments from mid November" pre sorts enquiries and reads as professional, rather than leaving customers waiting.

Reviews matter especially here. Someone letting a stranger into their home decides heavily on what others reported.

What you can skip

Elaborate animations, a chatbot, and a price list that will not be accurate without a site visit anyway. That time is far better invested in ten good photos and a clear list of locations.

The mobile point

A large share of enquiries comes in on the move, often out of an emergency. If the number is not tappable or the page stumbles on a phone, the next company takes the job.

If you would like to know which of the four questions your site does not answer today, we are happy to check, no obligation.
