The FAQ Page Is the Most Underrated Page on Your Website

Answering common questions honestly saves phone time, removes hesitation, and is at the same time the format most often quoted in search results.

The FAQ Page Is the Most Underrated Page on Your Website

The FAQ page usually gets built last, with five invented questions nobody has asked. Yet it is the only page where you answer exactly what actually makes visitors hesitate.

Why this format works so well

A question with a clear answer underneath is precisely the structure search engines can pick up. It is also the structure most often quoted in the summaries at the top of the results. And it is the structure people actually think in.

The best FAQ questions are not in a marketing template. They are in your inbox.

Where the right questions come from

Go through the last thirty customer enquiries and note what was asked repeatedly. Add whatever always has to be explained on the phone. The result is less comfortable than an invented list, but it is the right one.

Typically what lands there are questions like: roughly what does this cost? How long does it take? What do you need from me? What happens if I do not like it? Do you also work outside the region?

The rule most pages fail

Answer the uncomfortable questions too. An FAQ page that only confirms how good you are reads as advertising and gets skipped. One that says openly when you are not the right provider gets read and builds trust.

What the answers should look like

  • Two to four sentences. Long answers are neither read nor quoted.
  • Answer first, reasoning after. Not the other way round.
  • Concrete. A price range is an answer. "It depends on the project" is not.
  • Without jargon, or with a short explanation behind it.

The technical addition

Mark the questions up with FAQPage. Then the search engine can recognise them as question and answer and display them directly. The precondition is that the questions are also visibly on the page for visitors.

If you like, we will go through your actual customer enquiries and build a page out of them that saves you work.
